Smash is free for everyone to join. However, fans pay a monthly subscription to play music, watch videos and chat with the artist. The artist set the price.
The artist gets 50% of everything you pay on Smash. Our hope is that it will help artists build a sustainable career. Apple takes a 30% tax, the rest goes to cover our expenses.
We are still in our early days. In Sweden where we launched, most people have iPhones. We plan to launch an Android app before the summer. Using Smash on your laptop is something we consider also.
Since we have worked in the music industry we saw first hand how artists struggled with building fan bases. We love music and are all superfans, so we built Smash for ourselves.
